MATTER

MATTER redefines how patterns emerge by transforming matter into code, code into pixels and pixels into yarn. Inspired by the functional beauty of natural systems, Snøhetta developed a generative design process in which randomness becomes the guiding logic. Instead of repeating motifs, a series of algorithms creates subtly shifting woven compositions that feel coherent from a distance yet reveal unexpected colour accents up close. This unique visual identity is expressed through two designs: Mute, using neutral beige and grey weft yarns, and Saturated, using richer blue and green tones.

Crafted on Ege Carpets’ most advanced flat-weaving technology, MATTER is deeply rooted in circular thinking—from the use of recycled post-consumer and industrial waste to its highly durable, flat-woven construction. The coloured weft thread is made from 100% rPET, and all yarns are selected for both environmental performance and aesthetic clarity. By embedding unpredictability into the design itself, MATTER naturally resists visual fatigue and ageing, supporting interiors that evolve with their users.

Designed for planners and future-oriented work environments, MATTER offers maximum flexibility for modern spatial concepts, from focused work zones to collaborative areas. Its dual colour palettes—with 18 base colours interpreted in muted or saturated expressions—allow designers to shape cohesive, adaptive environments with long-lasting visual quality. More than a carpet, MATTER is a woven landscape: a synthesis of intention, imperfection and logic that celebrates complexity while remaining subtly harmonious.
