Strictly speaking, such effective architecture would be advantageous for any client, from city administrations to companies to universities. The Stuttgart-based Gustav Epple Construction Company is a traditional firm with expertise in this field. It is understandable that they utilized their expertise in this regard and, together with a+r Architekten, developed precisely such an architecture when it came to the new company headquarters. For the central administrative and day-to-day tasks of the company with its 115 employees, 4,300 square meters were accommodated in a three-story, compactly designed structure. The exposed concrete structure made of 60-centimeter-thick insulated concrete creates a monolithic effect, which appears distinctive and powerful, a quality primarily attributable to the dynamic overall form. This resembles an isosceles triangle with rounded corners. The two upper floors rest on three tapered concrete cores, allowing the ground floor to open up extensively
to the surrounding open spaces. The sloped wall construction is made of lightweight concrete and realized using custom-fabricated formwork elements. Behind the ribbon windows of the upper floors, loft-style levels offer an attractive abundance of space for workgroup tables, meeting points, and freestanding wooden workstations. Transparent partition walls and podium levels define the zones. Centrally located is a bright atrium through which a white steel staircase winds upward. The dynamic workspace feels nourishing thanks to the cafeteria, refreshing thanks to the rooftop terrace, energizing thanks to an underground parking garage, and is complemented by a fitness area.
