First, there is the location — which, in architecture, is often a standard floor within an office building. In this case, we are in a building from the 1990s in Vienna’s 3rd district. Then there is the nature of the environment. A revitalization of the total area of 30,000 square meters has been carried out, now comprising 650 fully furnished apartments, 320 square meters of gastronomy space, and 690 square meters of office space accommodating 75 permanent workstations. In addition, the “topography” includes a spa, fitness facilities, a pool, a sky lounge, and — of particular interest here — the co-working area. The character of HANS-Y emerges from the unique combination of high-quality living and individually designed working within an “urban lifestyle,” targeting professionals and city-oriented tenants who are interested in temporary and flexible living and working arrangements — precisely this kind of cool work-life biotope. The interior architecture studio ankestern interior was responsible for the design, defining the spacious reception area with café as the central element, around which “community lounges” with workstations and modern co-working zones are arranged. Here, functionality meets aesthetics — clear lines, Scandinavian-style furnishings, mirrored surfaces, light woods, slatted zoning elements, curtains, and changes in flooring shape the workspace. Dominant shades of green are complemented by tones such as pink, rust brown, rust orange, and light red. Homely, durable, and low-maintenance materials create atmosphere while also accommodating the above-average turnover of tenants and the desired high level of activity within the building — both of which are integral to the residential concept. Accordingly, the communicative zones designed for co-working, collaboration, and events — as well as the community lounges and rooftop terraces — were given an equally appealing design.
