Open, non-hierarchical spatial concepts without fixed workstations often reflect a specific corporate culture. They undoubtedly foster interaction and team spirit, but they also require a well-considered architectural framework. At NOVENTI, this approach works successfully. The new site — a narrow, six-story elongated building with an underground garage, located next to the railway station in Bietigheim-Bissingen north of Stuttgart — provides the basis. The architecture forms an obtuse angle that precisely follows the curve of the rail yard, bending first northward and then eastward. This results in a formally dynamic and appealing floor plan. The complex is accessible from both sides. A total of 4,810 square meters of office space were developed as a Best Workspace for 300 employees. Key features include integrated green areas, a highly insulated aluminum façade system with external sun shading, natural ventilation options, and abundant daylight and views — enabled by the slim building structure and low window parapets. A user-friendly indoor climate is ensured by thermally and acoustically activated heating and cooling ceilings. On the top floor, a lounge with a kitchen opens onto a planted rooftop terrace, while a staff restaurant on the ground floor is also available — and even suitable for working from time to time. The employee-friendly program is further enhanced by a fitness area and additional social spaces, such as a mother-and-child room designed as a “recreation area” with a high quality of stay. The overall workspace includes production and storage areas, publicly accessible conference rooms, and open communal spaces on the first floor, with office areas located on the upper levels. Workstations arranged along the façades are complemented by think tanks, meeting rooms, lounges, and tea kitchens in the central zones. In this way, a cooperative way of working is already embedded within the interior design.
