Inspiring creativity
Sportswear manufacturer Adidas commissioned architecture practice ACTINCOMMON with the conversion of the atrium in the main building (‘LACES’) of its global HQ in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The brief was to create an open-structured, inspiring work environment for Adidas employees, the so-called Adidas Valley – today a highly frequented office landscape, a place to work, hold meetings and socialize.
References to the world of sports
Workplaces, meeting facilities, presentation and lounge areas including a smoothie bar are all grouped together around an open, slightly elevated square. Open spaces alternate with closed, intimate areas to create an activating work environment with an additional 80 workstations. In contrast to the rather technological appearance of the existing architecture, a new look and feel was generated through the use of textured, natural surfaces. Visual references to the world of sports were added through the combination of raw and urban materials. A bold, contemporary color scheme further underlines the architects’ approach to create an attractive and unique work environment.
