The client—Asseco Austria GmbH—understandably took advantage of this unique architectural feature when relocating to Linz. She commissioned Meindl Cavar Concepts to design a specifically livable work environment combining the top floor with an adjoining outdoor area. The guiding principles were atmosphere, flexibility, and emotional identification. The latter, in particular, is fostered by the design concept, which establishes an explicit connection to nature. The motif is a “meadow path” that runs through all areas as a visually and spatially tangible interior element, conceptually connecting them—both the interior of the 1,000-square-meter office floor, shaped with soft corners, and the rooftop terrace, which adds another quarter of the total area. The spatial layout of the work environment is designed to be open overall, with modular work zones equipped with acoustically effective focus booths. As its “centerpiece,” the floor features an 180-square-meter lounge and bar area. It functions both logistically and intuitively as a social hub and multifunctional workspace. Anyone who, lured by the inviting weather, would like to be outside for a change can simply move their desk work or meeting up to the roof, where additional fully equipped work surfaces are provided. In addition to fresh air and greenery, the space offers covered workstations, high tables, or comfortable retreats. Green is everywhere, including in the color scheme. The material portfolio emphasizes naturalness in both feel and ergonomic functionality—featuring, for example, real wood surfaces, acoustically effective textiles, or space- defining plant elements. It’s truly pleasantly green up there.
