COROPLAST IT-Gebäude

Design brandherm + krumrey interior architecture
Location Wuppertal, Germany
The catalogue of geometric forms is extensive and highly appealing for the design of buildings, spatial elements, or products, as it offers the possibility of creating expressive, formally self-contained, and clearly legible silhouettes or volumes. The cube is among the most popular forms, as it stands stably, can be used efficiently in terms of space, and is easy to fill — and for the past hundred years, it has in a way symbolized modern, functionalist thinking. It is also true, however, that it works extremely well.

The designers at brandherm + krumrey interior architecture are, of course, well aware of this, and thus cubic elements are also prominent in the interior of the Coroplast IT building in Wuppertal. For its 58 permanent workstations, the new building provides 820 square meters of office space — distributed across symmetrical floor plans, each with a rear-positioned circulation and service core. The client, a family-owned company specializing in adhesive tapes, cables, and wiring technology, sought a modern working environment with an identity-forming interior design that combines agility, focus, and social interaction — and in which a consciously cultivated corporate culture can develop productively and in a future-oriented way. At the center is the “Hub,” from which colored cubes extend through the space, structuring it, providing orientation, and enabling different working modes — from quiet focus zones to open collaboration areas. Natural materials, targeted color accents, and carefully curated furnishings are combined with wood paneling, fabric-covered wall niches, and selected design furniture throughout the interior. The atmosphere — designed to support both professional functionality and emotional qualities — benefits from a versatile styling concept that works with textiles, lighting, and deliberately applied detailing. The spatial portfolio includes classic workstations, three focus rooms, and a wide range of meeting and lounge areas. The open spatial structure of the floor plans follows the principles of activity-based working, allowing employees to choose their workspace situationally — retreating individually when needed or coming together in teams depending on the task at hand.
