Headquarters, HPP Architects

Design HPP Architekten GmbH
Location Düsseldorf, Germany
Despite the trend towards remote and flexible working, employees need a place for face-to-face exchange and to stay connected with the company culture: this is the idea behind the new HQ of international partnership HPP Architects in Düsseldorf. It affords more space, with alternating retreat and meeting areas, putting a focus on wellbeing.

Communication and Creativity

With the transparent glass cube on the ground floor creating a powerful connection to the public space outside, the new building seeks to blend with its surroundings. The cube also marks the entrance to the offices, leading to an open staircase which in turn creates a relationship between the street and the inner courtyard. The glazed lounge on the ground floor is available to employees whilst also offering space for events and exhibitions. Inside, the rooms promote both formal and informal communication. Generous open space areas give each employee an individual spot for creative work and, if needs be, ample room for social distancing.

Authentic Studio Atmosphere

All employees are given a laptop and one workplace each, which can be chosen freely each day. The communal areas are equipped with height-adjustable sitting/standing desks and alternate with numerous retreat options. They offer the right place for team meetings as well as for concentrated work. Light, muted colors contrast with the monolithic, dark outer façade of the building. In addition, open ceilings with suspended cooling and acoustic sails, as well as glass fixtures, create a productive atmosphere and underline the studio character of the premises.
