Recruitment agency Joham & Partner is specialized in the placement of highly qualified specialists from technical professions. Fast communication among the employees and a pleasant atmosphere, together with the opportunity for private meetings and concentrated work, were therefore particularly important when it came to designing the company’s new premises. In order to create a new, open feeling of space, the existing suspended ceiling was removed, while the old brick walls were restored to emphasize the historical character of the building. The entrance area is separated from the main office by a glass wall, which can be opened to use the room as a single unit. The centerpiece of the office is a 33-feet table. Shared by all employees and the CEO, it aims to eliminate any spatial hierarchies. In order to enable concentrated work, the ceiling was provided with acoustic elements; there are also two ‘Face2Face rooms’ and individual workplaces, mainly along the window front.
New York Color Scheme
Showers and a functional area can be found in the back of the office, a space that is also used for sports activities and events. The former delivery ramp in the inner courtyard, half covered and half open, has been converted into an outdoor workplace. A photograph of a yellow taxicab on a foggy day in New York – a favorite city of both the client and the architects – inspired the color scheme: muted gray serves as a backdrop, while splashes of yellow add color and light. The ‘Face2Face rooms’ are based on the city’s subway color system, with a real station clock further underlining the design theme.
