“Soft Yellow,” as Donovan titled his famous song in the 1960s, is certainly one of the most popular colors of all. Our synesthetic perception associates it not only with the sun of summer vacations but perhaps also with the plastic or wood finish of beloved toys. It is also found in delicious ice cream flavors, in the yolk of breakfast eggs, in ubiquitous brand logos... in short: it is simply a warm, incredibly appealing color! And thus an understandable choice when it comes to a corporate color or signature color in interior design.

The project involved planning an office complex in Munich-Freimann, with a commission for a holistic concept combining architecture and interior design, paired with a corresponding brand strategy—covering no less than 5,850 square meters of office space and 1,260 fixed workstations. The yellow was interpreted as “fresh, young, powerful, and confident.” It is also used in the base area of the exterior facade. The revitalization was carried out in a resource-efficient manner, for example by reusing well-preserved needle-felt flooring, some doors, and cavity panels. The exposed concrete ceilings, which house building services, were left open and thus became a stylistic element. In a variety of configurations, the three existing blocks of the complex were converted into multispace offices, communal areas, and service rooms, with the fully furnished offices available for rent as individual units or by floor, supplemented by meeting and event spaces. Such fundamental flexibility in future use requires correspondingly complex planning for zoning and basic technical infrastructure. The amenities for tenants and guests are enhanced by a rooftop lounge on the 5th floor and a lobby and café on the ground floor. State of the art is the integration of sustainable and eco-friendly aspects: The existing air conditioning system handles demanding space cooling, heating is provided by district heating, and the underground parking garages offer EV charging stations, along with car- and bike-sharing options.
