Innovative Workspace Design for REEV

It is understandable that a young company like REEV, which focuses on software-based and tailor-made charging solutions for electric vehicles, as well as innovative and sustainable charging options, places great importance on fostering a culture of innovation. This also extends to creating a workspace that encourages creativity and dynamism, where ideas are developed, designed, and produced. Two design studios – MALLUVIA interior architecture and ARRT Studio – were tasked with designing the 560 square meters of office space in Munich. Their main idea revolves around glass meeting rooms that take the shape of various themed worlds tailored to the clients’ needs. The Urban Jungle features a green wall, reflecting REEV’s sustainable orientation, while the sandy-colored carpet evokes the natural floor of the jungle. Scandinavian furniture from Muuto enhances the concept, creating a harmonious, nature-inspired atmosphere.

Thematic Meeting Rooms and a Communal Kitchen

The second space, called Mellow Yellow, takes its name from the song by the band Donovan and is dominated by REEV’s corporate color. Its high-pile, vibrant yellow carpet extends across both the floor and rear wall, and sunny yellow Panton lights by &tradition hang above the white meeting table. In the third meeting room, named Industrial, REEV’s origins in industry and hardware are reflected. The color palette of the room – black, anthracite, and white – corresponds to the technical precision and robust aesthetics of the field.

The planners also placed great emphasis on the kitchen, interpreting it as a communal oasis and a central feature of the company’s headquarters. Spanning 200 square meters, it is meant to be the heart of the office, serving as a place for meals, creative ideas, and stimulating conversations. A striking nine-meter-long table invites employees to engage during lunch breaks, enabling spontaneous encounters and informal meetings. Throughout the space, the company’s colors – yellow and blue – are subtly incorporated in different shades, blending production and leisure areas with the corporate identity.

What are the key qualities of a good workplace for you?

Marcella Breugl, M.A. Interior Architect & Owner, Raphael Thalmeier: Flexibility in use, a balanced mix of communicative and private areas, as well as a well-thought-out design that harmoniously integrates light, materials, and acoustics, while being technologically and ergonomically up to date.

Do you see any similarities in the design of living spaces and workspaces?

The office needs to keep up with the home and should be inviting and comfortable. It should be a place where people feel good and enjoy working, motivating them to return to the office.

What functional aspects do you see as the most important for the future development of workspaces?

A sustainable and flexible design, both in terms of use and material choices. Hybrid working requires versatile spaces that create a natural and creative environment, while open structures must be complemented with private retreat areas.
