NESTLÉ Headquarter

Design Drees & Sommer SE, Bereich User Centric Spaces & Places
Location Frankfurt am Main, Germany
As versatile as this term may be, its meaning becomes particularly clear in the context of an internationally renowned corporation such as Nestlé. When such a company establishes a location in the heart of the city — within the dynamically curved Kreisler building in the banking district — it makes a statement. And that entails a corresponding responsibility for architecture and interior design.

“Good Food, Good Life,” the motto of the new working environment in Frankfurt am Main, encapsulates what is essentially a natural combination: high-quality and innovative food and beverage products as part of the corporate identity on the one hand, and New Work principles on the other — forming the basis for the design brief handled by Drees & Sommer. The planning covered approximately 15,000 square meters of office space, accommodating around 1,650 employees. A multispace office was developed, featuring around 850 flexible workstations and a wide variety of formal and informal seating options that cater to different working styles and preferences, while supporting mobile and team-oriented work. Spaces for interaction are at the heart of this extensive workspace: open kitchens, lounges, and the central marketplace. This core area is designed to encourage cross-departmental exchange and to foster connections — informal, spontaneous, and intuitive. In line with the company’s expertise and philosophy, the theme of culinary experience is also integrated: encounters are not only meant as work-related interactions but as “part of a lived culture of enjoyment and corporate identity.” Nestlé’s brand identity is reflected in the interior design, with natural materials, warm colors, and deliberately staged lighting contributing to the atmosphere. Sustainability is supported by integrating existing furnishings into the new spatial concept and furniture design. In the spirit of user participation, workshops conducted prior to implementation helped identify and develop the preferred colors and materials — ensuring they work equally well for employees and visitors. The spatial language of the workplace aims to be intuitive, to provide orientation, and to create an emotional connection. Central to the concept is the idea of transforming the physical space into a “stage for interaction and expression.” In Frankfurt, it is meant to be a place people genuinely enjoy — after all, it is the birthplace of the company’s founder, Heinrich Nestlé.
