With every new product in the consumer world, as well as with new insights such as the importance of environmentally responsible action, new activities are initiated by our technical testing institutions. TÜV SÜD is one of the major and leading players in this field and is responsible, among other things, for construction and building technology as well as consumer goods — including elements of interior design. Its academy in Augsburg is located on the first floor of an office building, covering a total area of 900 square meters, of which 410 square meters are dedicated to office use. Less formally described, this floor is a lively place for continuing education, where committed individuals come together for seminars or training sessions, exchange ideas, and find inspiration. Transforming this workspace into a modern working environment was the task of vonMoltke InnenArchitekten. They introduce the new educational setting with a sculpturally shaped reception desk, which already reflect — in its graphics and color palette of white, gray, and water blue — the interior design of the adjacent areas. References to the distinctive octagonal form derived from the TÜV logo can be found throughout: as graphic patterns on wall surfaces, in the shape of high tables, and in the floor design. Striking accent areas are created, structuring the open floor plan by defining functional zones. In selected wall areas, blue-lacquered wooden slats are installed as both a visual and tactile element, adding warmth and depth to the spatial composition. The exposed ceiling reveals the building services — after all, this is TÜV — with visible installations and lighting design. Pendant lights and LED strips create accentuated, indirect lighting, particularly in the catering area. Wooden stacking crates used for presentation and colorful tableware turn the café into a lively place for breaks—though, of course, it can also be used for work.
