A sculptural presence, such as the tower for Wolf Storen AG in Sennwald, Switzerland, is well suited for this purpose. It is a solid construction with a ventilated façade made of structured metal, naturally built to Minergie standards. The building’s form is defined by a dynamic and tension-filled interplay of projection and recession, openness and enclosure, light and shadow. In doing so, it reflects both the rugged mountain landscape of the region and the curving course of the surrounding road. Large windows and glass balconies on the top floor provide impressive views and bring in abundant daylight. The architects fundamentally follow the principle of material honesty, resulting in a clear expression of the materials that constitute the architecture: metal, exposed concrete, glass, acoustic panels made from recycled PET bottles, and wooden ceiling elements. Geothermal probes provide cooling in summer and heating in winter. The new building is positioned on the southern side of an existing hall, clearly visible from the country road across the nearby Rhine and close to the highway leading toward the Grisons mountains. Of the 561 square meters of gross floor area distributed over four floors, 259 are used as office space. In addition, the building offers a multifunctional event space at the top. The ground floor contains the entrance and the connection to the neighboring building, as well as a multi-person office. The stairwell and elevator core occupy the narrower eastern section. On the upper floors, an open office has been implemented. The tripartite division of these areas also allows for meeting functions and collaborative work.
